Unless you plan to re-do all the rooms in your home try
not to go over the top in one room. It will make the rest
of the house seem old or worn in comparison.
Take functional rooms that are used daily, like the
laundry or mud room, even the kitchen, and make them
stylish, even whimsical. By using detail you elevate
above the mundane.
Things don’t have to match but they have to blend.
A common mistake, doing too much. The
eye does not know where to look. Sometimes less is
more.
If you have a green thumb use interesting plants
(though still easy to grow), not “houseplants”.
Like people, furniture needs to breathe. Give it space.
Group similar things.
Room furniture should be at different heights and
include different shapes.
Rooms need a focal point. Not everything should be a
show-stopper.
You should love everything you buy for your home, but
just buying everything you love will not make a well
coordinated interior.
In your office, a comfortable chair is key!
The orientation of your work space should allow you
to face the door.
Have something in every room that makes you smile!
