the room employ many of the same concepts. A room with stripped wallpaper on the walls
makes the ceiling of the room appear taller, just as when someone wears a stripped shirt
they will appear visibly taller. Though subtle, the principle is still the same. The
chandelier must be the right scale for the size of the room, the same way the size of a
woman’s handbag has to relate to the scale of her body. The jacket and trousers of a suit
must be in the right proportions to each other, in the same way that the size of a floor rug
relates proportionately to the dimensions of the room and the scale of the furniture sitting
