It is very simple. Both decorating and wardrobe consulting are based on the same
principles. When you dress a room or a person, both revolve around the principles of fit,
scale and proportion. How a garment fits you and how furniture pieces fit into the style of
the room employ many of the same concepts. A room with stripped wallpaper on the walls
makes the ceiling of the room appear taller, just as when someone wears a stripped shirt
they will appear visibly taller. Though subtle, the principle is still the same. The
chandelier must be the right scale for the size of the room, the same way the size of a
woman’s handbag has to relate to the scale of her body. The jacket and trousers of a suit
must be in the right proportions to each other, in the same way that the size of a floor rug
relates proportionately to the dimensions of the room and the scale of the furniture sitting
on top of it. Whether decorating a room or dressing a person, the technique revolves
around exceptional style, taste and a keen knowledge of fit, scale and proportion. At
Embellishments we do both interior decorating and wardrobe consulting because they
require the same disciplines, and because we love to make people smile when we help
people improve their image, or the spaces that inspire them. We pride ourselves on
improving a client’s world.
